Molokini Crater

Molokini Island Preserve

Molokini Crater

Set in the Alalakeiki Channel, the Molokini Crater – also known as the Molokini Island Preserve – is located off the shores of Maui in Hawaii's Maui County.

This 23-acre crescent-shaped island is a volcanic crater found southeast of Lahaina – just west of the Makena State Park.

The Molokini Crater is both a Hawaii State Seabird Sanctuary and Marine Life Conservation District

Home to a multitude of seabirds, 260 marine species, 100 species of algae, and 38 species of coral, the crater is a hotspot for bird-watching, snorkeling, scuba diving, and even snuba – a combination of the two.
